Transforming the Working Life (Appendix 2)

Over 70% of our time as Christians is spent in the market place, yet our training and teaching focuses on areas where we spend much less time. The work place is the greatest mission field of the day, yet we do not train work place believers how to effectively integrate their faith into their work place. The wall between Sunday and Monday still exists. Most work place believers do not understand that all life is spiritual, not just life on Sunday.

What happens when Christian believers take the Word of GOD literally and begin to apply it in the market place?

What happens when they use spiritual authority in their work lives, reflecting their spiritual value system in their area of influence?

What happens when Christians move in a spiritual dimension in their work lives as few have endeavoured to do before now?

What happens is that lives, workplaces, cities and nations begin to be transformed by the power of Christ. Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come……Your will be done on Earth, as in Heaven” becomes a reality in the here and now.

How do we start making this a reality?

  • We begin by transforming ourselves

Our lives and what we do with them are important to GOD. A close relationship with the Lord will bring about a compelling and necessary result. We will find it possible to bring every aspect of our lives, including our work, into alignment with GOD’s truth and design. This in turn will transform us into people who are not only more effective as human beings and as workers, but more pleasing to GOD.

  • Prayer

Is prayer a vital part of your strategic business practices? Put prayer on the front lines, instead of making it an afterthought. You will begin to see renewed power in your work life. This entails both personal prayer and intercessory prayer. Remember our fight is not against flesh and blood, but it is in the spiritual realm that the battle is fought. In addition GOD allows intercessors to encourage the business person, to confirm something they have already been shown, or to see a more complete picture. However, actions are never left for the intercessors to determine. Once they have the intercessors' insights, the business person must determine the right course of action. This is their role. Conflicts arise when either tries to fulfill both roles. Intercessory prayer is the secret weapon of Spirit-led activity. Imagine having intercessors who are part of your team, committed to helping you make decisions in your business life "that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured." It is a comforting feeling to know the decisions you and I make during the course of a business day are in the will of God.

  • Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders will follow. Many amongst this new breed of believer are experiencing the power of Christ in their workplace callings. These individuals are experiencing miracles that manifest the kingdom of GOD in their workplaces.

The Lord has called us to be ministers of the gospel in and through the workplace. This means we must fight our battles, grow our companies, and minister to our employees and vendors and other stakeholders through the power of the Holy Spirit.
